The sandwich shop of a butchers with "no premade sandwiches" is the finalist in an award. Frasers Butchers is one of our 10 finalists for the Bolton News Sandwich Shop Awards. Frasers, which has been established in Great Lever for decades, is no stranger to awards, having scooped accolades at the Smithfield Awards in London earlier this month .

(Image: Newsquest) Although it is well-known for its selection of raw meat and butchery products, it also makes fresh-to-order sandwiches to its loyal customer base. Manager, Andy Hull, said: "We do sandwiches from Monday to Friday, it is one of our most popular things.



"We do all our homecooked meats, such as boiled hams, turkey, chicken tikka, hen we make the sandwiches with salad. It is all our home produced, cooked meats. We use Bee Bakery for our breads, which is a local bakery. "Someone came in on the Monday morning saying that the competition was going on and we told everybody about it." He added: "With this one being voted on by the customers, it is a nice string to our bow.

Without a doubt we have a very good, loyal customer base, they come back every week for their sandwiches. "We serve a lot of the guys in the car garages along Manchester Road. We are making a lot of dinners and teas.

"Our uniqueness comes from the home produced fillings. Everything is made to order, there are no premade sandwiches, it is a customer-built sandwich. "Customers get what they want and it is all made in-house.
