KOTA KINABALU (April 16): A businessman was fined RM10,000, in default, six months’ jail by a Sessions Court here for hiring an undocumented man.Chee Nyit Leong, 58, had pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 55 (B) (1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.Chee had taken Judin Sapal, 56, who had no valid travel document, as a worker.

He was arrested for committing the offence at the police traffic office at Penampang police station on March 2.The court heard that Judin had been working for Chee since 2021 without any work permit.On April 15, Judin was sentenced to jail and fine for reckless driving that resulted in a collision with multiple parked vehicles near a school in Putatan.
