Surat: A team of Surat crime branch on Monday arrested three members of a burglary gang who had stolen valuables from homes and shops on three consecutive nights earlier this month. The accused had stolen a car in Surat and then continued stealing valuables in Valsad, Bhilad and Vapi. By busting the gang, the DCB team succeeded in detecting 14 cases of theft committed by the gang.
According to details, the accused stole a car from Chowk Bazar area on Dec 16 night. After stealing the car, accused Mohan alias Bidi Juni, Satvir Singh alias Sattu Tank, and Trishul Singh alias Anil Singh Dudhani went to a medical store near People's Crossroads in Surat and stole cash in the early hours of Dec 17. They then proceeded to Valsad, where they broke into a few homes near Atul Company and stole valuables and cash on Dec 18.
They also broke into shops and homes in Vapi town and Bhilad town on the night of Dec 19. Once they gathered cash and valuables, they left the car under a bridge in Vapi and returned to Surat. After returning to Surat, they distributed the cash among themselves.
Then Dudhani left for Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the DCB received information that the accused were trying to sell the ornaments they had stolen. Based on that, the team caught Juni and Tank from Nanpura area of Surat, while the third accused, Dudhani, was nabbed from Thane in Maharashtra.
The DCB team detected two crimes in Surat, five crimes in Valsad town and rural areas, two cases in Bhilad, and five cases in Vapi town that took place between Dec 17 and Dec 19. The gang members have eight cases registered against them at various police stations in Mumbai and one case in Jalgaon.
