A fast food giant has submitted plans for its drive through in Wynyard. Burger King is seeking permission from Stockton Council to erect 17 new signs and four menu boards at Wynyard Retail Park. The drive thru - which will be situated beside the roundabout connecting Wynyard Avenue to Chapel Lane (South) - plans to have digital menu boards, directional signage, a digital reader and signs with the unrecognisable brand logo and the tagline ‘flame grilling since 1954'.
Artist impressions submitted this week feature Burger King's logo, a height restriction barrier and a 'Thank You / No Entry' sign. The drawings detail measurements and materials used. In April, Teesside Live reported Northumberland Estates secured planning permission for the mammoth development comprising 52,000 sq.
ft. of retail space and a 45,000 sq. ft.
trade park at the Wynyard Business Park. The endeavour backs Tees Valley's Strategic Economic Plan as well as the Local Industrial Strategy, with Northumberland Estates saying it aims to spur economic growth and fuel job creation in the region. The nod was given for phase one of the enterprise to kick off in May 2024 with envisaged to be full steam ahead by May 2025.
At the time, Anthony Cape, senior asset manager at Northumberland Estates, said: "We have seen really strong interest from businesses in the trade and retail sectors for this new development, and we hope to be in the position to confirm details of some of those occupiers in the coming months." Burger King is not the only big chain confirmed for the retail park, Starbucks and Sainsbury’s are also set to move in. Teesside Live is now on WhatsApp and we want you to join our community.
