Cold weather is — finally — back in Hampton Roads. The National Weather Service in Wakefield has issued a freeze watch for eastern North Carolina and western parts of Hampton Roads, specifically Suffolk and Isle of Wight. Wind speeds will pick up tonight, and temperatures will be the coolest of the season resulting in the coldest wind chill temperatures.

In some areas, temperatures could drop to the mid-20s, and winds will pick up to 15 mph. Norfolk has a predicted temperature of 30 degrees, and Williamsburg will be closer to 28 degrees. For the rest of the week, wind gusts are predicted to be about 30 mph inland and above 40 mph for areas close to the coast, as well.

Warmer weather will return this weekend. Eliza Noe, eliza.noe@virginiamedia.
