India is off to a flying start in the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy , sealing a 295-run win over Australia in the first Test at the Optus stadium, courtesy of stand-in skipper Jasprit Bumrah's masterful bowling and 'Miyan' Siraj's magic. Australia, which was set a daunting target of 534 runs, were bowled out for 238 on the fourth day, giving India a 1-0 lead in the series, with Harshit Rana getting Alex Cary in the 59th over. India’s bowlers delivered a masterclass on Monday, consistently chipping away at Australia’s batting lineup.

On Sunday itself, Bumrah and Siraj showed their dominance over the hosts, as the visitors bagged three wickets in the final session, having declared their batting at 487/6, soon after Kohli's 81st international ton. Usman Khawaja (4) and Steve Smith (17) were removed in the morning session by Mohammed Siraj. While Travis Head (89) and Mitchell Marsh (47) showed some resistance with an 82-run partnership, the Indian attack proved too strong.

Head was dismissed by Bumrah, captaining in Rohit Sharma’s absence, as he edged to wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Marsh, after some aggressive strokes that included launching Washington Sundar into the stands, chopped debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy onto his stumps.
