LENGGONG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) students found bullying their peers will not be allowed to remain in these elite institutions."I can't tolerate any form of bullying in any MRSM. I have instructed the Mara chairman that anyone involved (in bullying) is not eligible to remain an MRSM student.

He said this directive was not harsh and necessary. "The children who are here, and in the other 56 MRSMs, are the cream of the crop," he said in his speech at the "Wacana Inspirasi" in MRSM Lenggong here today. "You are the future of our Malaysian generation.

So how could we possibly tolerate bullies?"MRSM is not a place for bullies; they do not deserve to be in MRSM." Present were Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Annuar Nasarah and Mara chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki. He said MRSMs were meant to nurture excellence and produce future professionals, academics, political leaders, and even prime ministers.

"There shall be no bullies in any of our schools. What we want are excellent students across all 57 MRSMs.At a press conference later, Zahid, who is also rural and regional development minister, said that he agreed with Asyraf Wajd's statement that "You touch, you go".

"This means we will never compromise when it comes to those bully, and we want 100 per cent of the students in MRSM to have good morals, good values and good character."We learn not only to excel academically, but we must also excel in good manners and conduct," he said.Zahid comments come after seven MRSM students were expelled for bullying their classmate earlier this month.

Last year, Asyraf Wajdi had expressed disappointment over allegations of abuse among students at a public higher education institution. Asyraf Wajdi also warned that strict action would be taken if such incidents occur within Mara educational institutions,."I've made my stance clear: 'You touch, you go!' There's no need to meet me for appeals or sympathy as reminders have been given repeatedly," Asyraf Wajdi said in a Facebook post.
