AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Buffalo Bulls danced on their home floor with confetti raining inside a jam-packed arena to celebrate winning the Women's National Invitation Tournament championship.
UB rallied in the second half to beat Troy 88-84 on Saturday in front of 5,650 fans, the largest crowd ever to attend a women's basketball game at Alumni Arena.The Bulls finished their third season under coach Becky Burke with a 30-7 record, the most victories in team history. Coming back from an 11-point deficit in the first half, UB won its ninth game this season and fourth during its WNIT run when trailing at the start of the fourth quarter.
Tournament MVP Chellia Watson led UB with 23 points. Kirsten Lewis-Williams had 18 points, five rebounds and five assists, Terrah Harness scored 17 off the bench, and Western New York native Noelani Cornfield complied 15 points and 11 assists.WNY native Noelani Cornfield rejoins with community playing basketball for UB***Jonah Bronstein joined the WIVB squad in 2022 as a digital sports reporter.
