BUFFALO, N.Y. — An arrest has been made in a cold case that has haunted Buffalo for years.
The remains of a missing Buffalo woman were discovered in 2021 and now a 61-year-old Buffalo man has been charged with her murder . Richard J. Fox is now behind bars.
He is charged with the murder of Marquita Mull. According to the Erie County District Attorney's office, Fox is accused of killing Mull somewhere in the City of Buffalo. She was last seen in the Broadway-Fillmore area in the summer of 2021 and disappeared without a trace until her remains were found later that year in a remote area of Chautauqua County.
Fox was arrested at a home in Niagara falls on January 7th and is also facing four felony charges related to his sex offender status. "Over three years ago, where Marquita Mull was found and today is the combination of the charge of the person we believe murdered her," Michael Keane, the Erie County District Attorney said. "You don't ever want to be where I am standing right now, because she's not coming home," Wendy Mull, Marquita's little sister said.
Police also said they found another set of remains, about 10 yards away from mull, but are not releasing the person's identity as it is part of an ongoing investigation. Fox faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison if he is convicted. His next court date is Monday, January 13th for a felony hearing.
