Throughout recent Bills games, it's been a trend that the team has started slow, made incredible adjustments, and looked like an entirely different team after halftime. While it's great to be able to make adjustments, being able to get a jump on your opponents from the first whistle would be nice. In last week's game against the Tennessee Titans , the Bills scored one touchdown and punted five times before halftime, and then proceeded to put up three touchdowns and two field goals after the half.

Needless to say, that needed to change. Head coach Sean McDermott has stated that starting fast is an emphasis for this team, and on Sunday, they finally put it together on the field. After the Bills defense held the Seahawks to a three-and-out, the scoring got started with Keon Coleman putting Riq Woolen on a poster for a touchdown .

Buffalo didn't look back. It was 14-3 by halftime, with the score running all the way up 31-3 in the fourth quarter before finally relinquishing a touchdown to the Seahawks. "It's all it's always a priority, even though we haven't done a great job of that," head coach Sean McDermott said when asked if starting fast was a priority.

"We went back and looked at some things, and I felt more than anything, we got into a rhythm early. We had some momentum, got into a rhythm, defense came out three-and-out, and that helps. The field position that they got off of that first punt that was, I mean, he hung it up there pretty far, and I think both, both three and outs by the defense, I expected better field position, quite honestly, and we didn't get it.

But credit to our to our offense for getting us out of those situations." Along with the fast start, Coleman continues to develop week-in and week-out, earning the trust of Allen and the coaching staff. "Just growth one week at a time," McDermott said when asked what has contributed to Coleman's progress.

"Growth, development. You know, [wide receiver coach] Adam [Henry]'s done a really good job with him. And, you know, having Amari [Cooper] I think helps too, because he's a veteran, another veteran the room, and to me, a big time, established veteran that's done great things in this league for a while, so that helps with the guys that are already in that room.

We've got good guys in that room that help young players develop and teach them the right way, teach them the right habits, the right routines, Monday through Saturday. That's what leads to what you saw today." James Cook put together his first 100+ rushing yard, 2+ rushing touchdown performance in his career, Khalil Shakir was his usual highly-efficient self catching all but one target thrown his way for over 100 receiving yards, and Coleman finished with 70 yards and a strong touchdown.

After some bumps along the way, the offense seems to be back to firing on all cylinders, and the Bills are out to a hot 6-2 record to start the season. Things are trending up in Buffalo. This article first appeared on A to Z Sports and was syndicated with permission.
