Bucs Baker Mayfield Shares Encourage Message to Bryce Young

There has been a lot of recent controversy over the Carolina Panthers benching former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young and whether or not it's too early to make that move. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield understands the situation Young is in, and was asked recently about his thoughts: Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports "A lot of the time, guys might have the talent, they might have the brains, but they don't have the right opportunity or right fit, said Mayfield.

"I mean, I'm sitting here right now in a way better fit than the other places I've been." Mayfield also understands what it is like to put on the Panthers uniform. 4). Young was benched for veteran Andy Dalton after two tough performances against the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers. Head coach Dave Canales who is the former Bucs offensive coordinator, had just given Young a bode of confidence a week before cutting him.

Mayfield also gave Young some words of encouragement as he too knows what it's like to be in an organization with bad surrounding talent. “I mean, I’m sitting here right now in a way better fit than other places I’ve been, and that’s not to put other teams down, but it’s a matter of the pieces around you, the coaches," said Mayfield. "For Bryce, I can relate to this, finding that belief within yourself again, and he’ll get it.
