THE SK Buanoy Sportsfest dubbed as Fiesta League 2025 aspires to foster grassroots development and engaging youth participation as it gets rolling on Feb. 22, 2025, at the Buanoy Sports Complex in Balamban, Cebu. The annual sporting event offers various sporting competitions for the youth of Buanoy and neighboring barangays.
Basketball, volleyball, futsal, sepak takraw, chess, billiards, e-sports (Mobile Legends), and other cultural and arts events will be contested. Futsal, sepak takraw and chess are open to other barangays, while the rest of the sports are exclusive for the residents of Buanoy. The competition starts on Feb.
22 and runs until the actual fiesta on April 24. Cash prizes and other incentives will be given to the winners in all competitions. This initiative is organized by the SK Council lead by chairman Jhon Mar Heñeta and with the active participation of youth councilors Lourdes Isabella Corpuz, Eloise Carmelotes, Kim Caliwan, Sherwin Simbajon, Ge-ar Bagoy, Aljie Sacayan, and Excel Artajo.
“By supporting youth and the community of Buanoy we not only nurture their talents but also cultivate a strong, active community that values cooperation and resilience,” said Heñeta. Relative, Albert Sacayan, a native of Brgy. Buanoy, has played in grassroots leagues alike, before turning as one of the reliable stars for the reigning champion Cesafi champion University of the Visayas Green Lancers.
