BUA Gypsum Plaster Limited, a subsidiary of BUA Group, has officially commenced operations at its newly built 2,400 tonnes per day gypsum plaster manufacturing facility in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. A statement from the firm disclosed that the plant, touted as Nigeria’s largest plaster production facility, is expected to significantly boost local manufacturing, meet rising domestic demand, and reduce dependence on imported gypsum products. It noted that the facility specialises in producing Plaster of Paris and plasterboards for the housing and construction sectors.
Speaking on the milestone, the Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Rabiu, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s industrial and infrastructural growth. “This facility is a critical step in our mission to enhance local capacity, improve the gypsum value chain, and promote infrastructure development across Nigeria and West Africa. “With a daily production capacity of 2,400 tonnes, we are poised to address the needs of the construction industry and reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imports,” Rabiu said.
BUA Gypsum Plaster Ltd. is also inviting distributors to register for exclusive access to its products. Registration is mandatory for interested companies and will close on December 31, 2024.

According to BUA, the promotional price is part of its launch strategy to empower distributors and promote the adoption of locally manufactured products at competitive rates. It added that the establishment of the gypsum plaster facility aligns with BUA’s ongoing efforts to bolster local production across its operational sectors.
“It complements the company’s other investments in cement production, sugar processing, and infrastructure, further solidifying its position as a leader in Nigeria’s industrial landscape,” the statement stated. With this development, industry analysts believe BUA’s gypsum plaster facility will help address long-standing supply gaps in the market, stabilize prices, and encourage the use of locally sourced materials. Distributors interested in partnering with BUA can register on the company’s platform before the December deadline.
