A Panthers teammate nevertheless credited the young quarterback for handling the difficult development in stride. Per ESPN's David Newton , tight end Tommy Tremble praised Young's leadership on the sideline during Carolina's Week 3 triumph. "We love him for that," Tremble said.

Eakin Howard/Getty Images Carolina mustered 13 combined points in two games behind Young before finding life under Dalton. The team averaged 6.2 yards per play in an outing that felt indicative for Tremble and other Panthers players.

"For a lot of guys who've been here, been through the struggles, and had a lot of stuff said about us ...

to have that victory - a pretty dominant one, too - it feels great and shows that what we're doing is the right thing," Tremble said, per The Athletic's Joe Person . Yet watching the Panthers click without him couldn't have been easy for Young. The team reportedly plans on playing the 23-year-old again this season, but Dalton's performance makes that move far less likely to happen any time soon.

Last year's No. 1 pick still hasn't publicly pouted over his benching. While many pundits bash the Panthers organization for mistreating him, Young accepted responsibility for his play sparking the change under center.

"Every snap hit my hands, and I didn't do enough with it at the end of the day," Young said last week . "I take accountability for that." Dalton should be in line to draw another start against his former team, the Cincinnati Bengals, in Week 4.
