Brother of Rangers goalkeeper makes SPFL debut

Shay Kelly, brother of Rangers goalkeeper Liam, made his SPFL debut at the weekend.

An 18-year-old goalkeeper made his SPFL debut at the weekend. Shay Kelly, brother of Rangers ' goalkeeper Liam, was loaned to Dumbarton from St Mirren last month. He joined the League One team for the rest of the season after Brett Long and Paddy O'Neil suffered injuries.

He made his first appearance for the Sons in their 3-2 victory over Alloa Athletic on Saturday. He shared the guidance he has received from his older brother.



Kelly said [ Record ]: "I want to be the best goalkeeper I can, I want to be better than him [Liam Kelly] but that’ll be a tough task. "He gives me wee pointers all the time, anything that I can add to my game from him then I’ll use them. "He’s done so well for himself and anything I can learn from him is great.

" Liam Kelly made a move to Rangers last summer after his contract with Motherwell ended. Since then, he has made seven appearances for the Ibrox side, securing three clean sheets. Shay Kelly aims to match, if not exceed, his sibling's achievements.
