BROOKLYN, Ohio -- The revitalization of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce continues with the announcement of a new fall event. The nonprofit’s first Clambake is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m.
Oct. 26 at Brooklyn High School. Proceeds from the $45 dine-in or to-go meals (dozen clams, corn, half chicken, sweet potato) benefit the Brooklyn High School’s post-prom effort and the chamber of commerce’s scholarship fund.
“This will definitely be an annual affair,” said Chamber of Commerce President Karam Hasrouni, who is also the Brooklyn City Schools Board of Education vice president. “We’re going to try to grow it as well, having 50-50 baskets, raffles and other fundraisers during the event. The deadline to purchase tickets is Oct.
15.” The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce has been growing with new members attending guest speaker-driven monthly meetings. “What we’re doing now is combining our efforts with the city and the schools, focusing on the charitable arm of the chamber,” he said.
“So we created the Brooklyn Cares Foundation. “That’s going to encompass everything with the scholarship program, as well as the giveaways for the winter hats, scarves and gloves.” Numerous messages left by cleveland.
com to Brooklyn Mayor Ron Van Kirk were not returned. Brooklyn City Schools Superintendent/CEO Theodore Caleris is excited about the renewed partnership with the chamber. “The chamber and the school district have become synonymous for advancing both our students and school community,” he said.
“Over the last year, the chamber’s focus to a servant leadership model has gained traction and interest from our business and school community. Hasrouni has done a great job in bringing awareness to the revitalized mission and vision of the Chamber of Commerce.” Read more news from the Parma Sun Post here.
