The Denver Broncos will be searching the free-agent market for wide receiver options and potentially the NFL draft too as the team will be expected to add some depth and experience for Bo Nix to get the ball to. But trading for a player could also be on the table and that is what Jarrett Bailey of Touchdown Wire envisions. He predicts that the Broncos will be the team to trade for Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
"Kupp would fit the Sean Payton scheme like a glove. An underneath slot demon that can still separate and get yards after the catch while being the easy button for Bo Nix is a no-brainer addition for Denver", wrote Bailey. But that's not all, he also predicts that the team will trade Courtland Sutton to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"It’s actually impressive how bad the Steelers’ receiving corps was in 2024. Van Jefferson was their WR2, insert meme of Ralph from The Simpsons saying “I’m in danger.” The Steelers reached out to Denver twice last offseason about trading for Sutton, but were turned away both times.
However, Denver didn’t give him a new deal and he’s entering the final year of that deal. Send him to Pittsburgh and get some draft capital in return while the Steelers get another legitimate receiver", said Bailey. Starting with Kupp, this is an idea that has been discussed before .
It makes sense. Kupp is still a productive player who would be the exact type of guy Nix can get the ball to often in games. He is arguably the best slot receiver in the league and that is something that a Sean Payton offense would covet.
The idea of trading Sutton is far less likely. Though his name constantly comes up in trade talks, the Broncos should want to add to what they have, not replace their No. 1 option with a new No.
1 option. However, with the Steelers just completing a trade with the Seattle Seahawks to add DK Metcalf to their roster, also trading for Sutton has slim odds. Wide receiver options are quickly dwindling as Davante Adams has also found a new team, agreeing to a deal with the Los Angeles Rams.
It remains to be seen if the Broncos will make a move or trust the players that are already in place.
