If you’re an offensive lineman trying to block Zach Allen one-on-one, he likes his chances. Allen, a defensive end in his second Broncos season, is tied for third in the NFL after two games with 13 quarterback pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. So what’s the difference for him this season? “I’m seeing some more one-on-ones,” said Allen, saying the Broncos having improved their defensive line has helped in that regard.

“Last year, I think I really realized the importance of when you get that one-on-one, you really can’t lose that opportunity.” Allen said he also “tweaked some things” during the offseason with his pass rush. And it has helped being in his second Denver season after spending the previous four years with the Arizona Cardinals.

“I definitely feel more comfortable this year, obviously,’’ he said. “It sounds silly but your game-day routine being in a new city changes. Everything kind of changes.

So now that I’ve figured everything out, kind of figured out what works for me, what doesn’t, has definitely helped out. It kind of feels like business as usual right now.” In the opener at Seattle, Allen had four pressures and he and outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper shared in a safety.

In last Sunday’s home opener against Pittsburgh, he had nine pressures, including a sack. Farmer to sign The Broncos on Wednesday will sign outside linebacker Andrew Farmer to the practice squad, a source said. Farmer was undrafted in 2023 out of Lane College before signing with the Los Angeles Chargers.

He got into eight games for them in 2023, playing 60 snaps on defense and 48 on special teams. In two games against Denver, he played 15 snaps on defense and five on special teams. Farmer was in Denver on Tuesday preparing to take part in Wednesday’s practice.

After Farmer is signed, the Broncos will need to make at least one roster move since their practice squad is currently full. The Broncos could put right tackle Mike McGlinchey on injured reserve after he suffered a knee injury against the Steelers. Players on injured reserve must miss at least four games and McGlinchey is expected to be out about that long.

If that move is made, a player could be signed off the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Farmer, who worked out with the Broncos two weeks ago, will provide depth in practice. Outside linebacker Baron Browning suffered a foot injury in the first half against the Steelers and did not return.

A source said Browning had an MRI on Monday. Denver’s only official roster move Tuesday was waiving outside linebacker Ronnie Perkins off injured reserve. Franklin-Myers ’50-50’ to face Bucs The Broncos likely won’t know until late in the week whether defensive end John Franklin-Myers will be able to play Sunday at Tampa Bay.

Franklin-Myers suffered a mild concussion against the Steelers midway through the first quarter and was lost for the game. He was evaluated by a doctor Monday. A source said the chances of him playing against the Bucs are “50-50” and more should be known Friday.

Peart or Palczewski? It remains to be seen whether the Broncos will replace McGlinchey at right tackle with Alex Palczewski or Matt Peart. Palczewski, a second-year man, filled in for McGlinehey for the final two plays after he was hurt against the Steelers, his first career regular-season snaps from scrimmage. Peart has far more experience.

In his fifth NFL season, he has played 464 snaps at right tackle and 328 at left tackle..
