The 64-year-old singing sensation shot to stardom after she appeared as a contestant on the third season of the ITV talent show. She wowed the nation with her incredible rendition of I'm Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserable and went on to have one of the UK's best selling albums of all time.
In 2023, Susan revealed she had to step away from work after she suffered a stroke the previous year. However, she has now taken to Instagram to reveal she is back working on a new project. She shared the announcement with her 101,000 followers to mark her birthday yesterday as she issued a heartfelt thank you.
In the caption, she said: "Today’s a special day — it’s my birthday! But I’ve got something exciting to share...
I’m back and working on some wonderful new projects that I can’t wait for you to hear about! "More news will be coming very soon, but I just wanted to say how much I’ve missed you all. Your support means the world to me and I’m more determined and excited than ever. Love, Susan x" The post received thousands of likes, including a show of support from Amanda Holden .

Susan, don't let anything stop you. We love and miss you." Susan appeared on Britain's Got Talent in 2009 and just missed out on top spot when she finished second behind Diversity.
She made her return to the show last ear as she performed alongside the Les Miserable cast. It was Susan's return to performing since her health setback. Reflecting on the performance, she said: "It feels great.
It feels extra special for me. "Last April I suffered a minor stroke and I thought it was crazy to be back on stage and I have done it." Ant and Dec interviewed her on stage and said they were thrilled to have her back.
Simon Cowell said: "Susan we owe you so much. I knew you weren't well, but if anyone was going to come back, you were going to come back because we wouldn't be the same without you. You are amazing.
" The latest season of Britain's Got Talent is underway with Simon, Amanda, Bruno Tonioli and Alesha Dixon back in the judging chairs. The next episode will be airing at 7pm on Saturday.
