The iconic golden buzzer from the popular ITV talent show will now appear during the live shows, with one act being sent straight to the final each week. It comes as it was announced earlier this year that the live semi-finals will now air weekly on a Saturday, instead of nightly during the last week in May. The golden buzzer has been a main feature of the audition rounds since it was launched back in series eight.
Now, judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli and hosts Ant and Dec will be able to give an act from each live semi-final another chance. In a press statement issued by ITV today (April 16), it states: “In each semi-final, either one of the judges or Ant and Dec will be given control of the golden buzzer, and as soon as they see a performance worthy of a place in the final, they will have just one opportunity to press it. “That act will be granted a one-way ticket to the final, along with one other act from that night who will be voted in by the public.

Clear your diaries, because the live semi-finals will be airing weekly, every Saturday night!” It’s a change to the usual format of the live shows, where finalists are chosen by a public vote and a debilitating judges’ end-of-the-night vote.
