Britain's Got Talent judge Simon Cowell brought a Welsh woman's performance to an abrupt halt during the latest audition episode of the ITV show. Louise Hall, hailing from South Wales, was asked by Simon to switch up her song mid-performance. Louise introduced herself to the panel of judges, Simon, Amanda Holden , Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli, as a teacher with a passion for singing.
She expressed that winning the competition would be life-changing for her and her daughter, admitting her nerves but emphasising her determination to win. However, shortly after she began her rendition of "Something Beautiful" by Jacob Banks, Simon interjected. He questioned, "Sorry, do you have a second song?" Fortunately, Louise had another song prepared.
Simon advised, "I think if you are going to do this, this obviously means a lot to you, I think you've really got to stop overthinking this for a second and just let go. That was kinda like, what I call a polite audition." With renewed vigour to "fight" for her chance, Louise launched into her second choice, "I'm Telling You" by Jennifer Hudson, impressing most of the judges and the audience.
Her performance culminated in a standing ovation, and host Dec couldn't help but exclaim, "That was something else!", reports Wales Online . Bruno was in awe, exclaiming: "Oh my God! The clarity and the projection of your voice, I've hardly ever heard. Only really the top top top of the business have that clarity, it is incredible.
" However, Simon Cowell wasn't immediately sold, remarking: "Look, Louise, I like you. That was adrenaline, you just let go, you are very talented but I think, god, we have had better singers than you this year." Despite his initial hesitation, Simon did eventually give Louise a yes, securing her four yesses and a spot in the next round.
The episode also featured an unexpected moment when the judges and hosts Ant and Dec gave six yesses after an impromptu audition on the red carpet, which moved Amanda Holden to tears. The show began with judges Amanda, Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, and Alesha Dixon making a glamorous entrance on the red carpet, only to be left speechless as the audience broke into an unplanned performance of Electric Light Orchestra's Mr Blue Sky..
