Research has revealed Brighton to be one of the most expensive places to buy Guinness. With today being St Patrick's Day, new data from UK Debt Expert has analysed the most expensive UK city for a pint of Guinness. However, those celebrating in Brighton should be prepared, as the city placed seventh most expensive, an average pint costing £4.

99. This is 4 per cent higher than the national average of £4.71, UK Debt Expert claimed.

The data was compiled based on comparing the price of a pint of Guinness from three pub chains: Wetherspoons, O’Neills, Hungry Horse, and Greene King. The most expensive city was found to be London, with the average pint costing £6.42.

The cheapest city was Nottingham, with an average of £4.42. Maxine McCreadie, personal finance expert at UK Debt Expert said: “It’s easy for St Patrick’s Day celebrations, famously centred around eating and drinking, to rack up a big bill, especially as people can quickly get through a number of pints trying to ‘split the G’ across the country.

“It can be easy to dip into your overdraft or pull out a credit card to fund another round, but it’s important to budget properly for social activities and be mindful of how much you’re spending this St Patrick’s Day - especially if you’re celebrating it in one of the more expensive cities.”.
