The Jets locker room was nearly completely empty as Breece Hall stood in front of reporters, sunglasses hiding his eyes but his emotions on full display. “I feel like this year has probably been like the most trying year of my life,” the third-year running back said. “Just having a lot of expectations and a lot of expectations for myself and just not having been on the successful side of that.

I go work hard every day but no excuses for it. If I can’t take care of the ball, I shouldn’t be in the game. I’ve got to be better regardless.

” Hall had a costly fumble in the third quarter as the Jets were driving. He ran 11 yards to midfield when former Giant Julian Love forced a fumble that was recovered by Seattle linebacker Tyrice Knight. The Seahawks then went 34 yards on 10 plays and Jason Myers kicked a 43-yard field goal to cut the Jets’ lead to 21-19 with 13:11 left in the game.

The Jets went on to lose 26-21. “I feel like today I lost us the game,” said Hall, who finished with 60 yards on 12 carries and didn’t have a catch for the first time this season. “You never feel good about that, especially being a competitive person.

If I can’t take care of the ball, I shouldn’t be in the game.” It was Hall’s second fumble of the game, though the Jets recovered his fumble in the first quarter. Hall has six fumbles this season, two that were lost.

“It’s been a long season,” Hall said. Hall was playing with a knee injury Sunday, but he said that was no excuse. He injured his knee against the Colts two weeks ago and did not practice Wednesday.

For Hall, though, his pride was hurting more than his knee after this one. “I haven’t really played well enough,” Hall said of the last five weeks after he had back-to-back games with over 140 yards from scrimmage against the Bills and Steelers. “I haven’t been who I think I am, been who I said I’ve been.

You start to lose confidence in yourself. Fumbling the ball, probably coaches and teammates, hopefully they don’t lose their confidence in me but it’s well deserved. I have to keep my head down, keep working and hopefully I’ll get out of this funk.
