He started last week against the Denver Broncos and played well, hoping to kick off a string of strong performances as we get into the meat of the season. © Barry Reeger-USA TODAY Sports But after the injury on Friday, the team announced he'll miss Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Acrisure Stadium.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Fautanu will be shelved "indefinitely" although it's not known how much time he'll miss beyond Sunday. Fautanu had won the right tackle job from Broderick Jones by outplaying him in the preseason and early this year, but now Pittsburgh must revert back to Jones due to the injury to Fautanu. This could affect the Steelers ' passing game on Sunday when backup quarterback Justin Fields makes his third straight start while starter Russell Wilson continues to recover from a calf injury sustained on the first day of training camp in the offseason.

Fields has traditionally been one of the worst quarterbacks in the league when it comes to avoiding sacks, and now he'll be without the best protection on his blind side on Sunday against a stout Chargers pass rush.
