Tonight, an event is occurring in the solar system that you won’t want to miss. Right now, during the last night of the waxing phase, the moon is 99.87% visible and decrescent.

Tomorrow night is officially the full moon, though tonight is the first total lunar eclipse since 2022 and will be the only lunar eclipse visible over North America this year. Luckily, cloud cover over southwest North Dakota is limited, making viewing relatively easy. Don’t forget a jacket, though - with high 30’s and low 40’s, you’ll want to be warm enough to enjoy the view.

ADVERTISEMENT Totality, the term used to describe when the moon will be completely shadowed, will occur at 12:26 A.M. Mountain Daylight Time and last until 1:31 A.
