When Barry Williams was on set of The Brady Bunch , all he could think about was Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. Indeed, the former child star, who played Greg Brady on the show, opened up about his offscreen relationship with Maureen McCormick , who played his onscreen stepsister, Marcia Brady. “It was sort of like on-again, off-again with Maureen and I throughout the years," Williams, 70, said on the April 8 episode of The Real Brody Bros podcast, which he co-hosts with Christopher Knight , who played his brother Peter.

"There was always a little dance being played that was broken up by hiatus." And that on-off romance made it difficult for Williams to see McCormick, 68, spend time with her character’s love interests, including notable former date Charlie. “When she was pretending to have be affectionate with other guys and going out on dates and stuff," he continued, "I liked to just stay out of the way and let her do her job and focus on and concentrate until an episode that called for us to be sitting next to one another.

" Knight, 67, however couldn’t help but poke fun at the awkwardness of Williams and McCormick dating while playing siblings. “You two were looking a little bit close," he joked. "A little bit less like brother and sister and more like — you were looking at her, at times, the way the directions in the script probably told Charlie to look at Marcia.

" To which Williams added he was probably looking at her "dreamy-eyed.” And when McCormick had scenes with characters like Charlie, Williams noted he made sure to be there to keep an eye on things. "At all times," he said.

"Always. Just to basically have a presence." This, of course, isn’t the first time either of the pair have addressed the former relationship.

“Barry and I were extremely attracted to each other,” McCormick told TODAY in 2008. “It was even hard to be in a scene together. I was just dreaming of this romance.

" She added, "I had such an amazing attraction for him. It was awkward to be in scenes playing brother and sister. People started seeing it.

Fortunately, it was on-again, off-again. We look at it now and we laugh.” (E! and Today are both part of the NBCUniversal family.
