Bradley Cooper has wowed fans with his incredibly different new look for a surprise feature in a beloved show. The Guardians of the Galaxy star opened the fourth season of The Righteous Gemstones, a black comedy following a family of televangelists hiding their true lives. While the HBO show is set over the past couple of decades, the latest episode took viewers back to the American Civil War , showing how the Gemstone family got into religion.
Bradley, 50, played robber turned Confederate chaplain Elijah Gemstone, and fans were blown away by how well he acted the part. Others, meanwhile, just loved his new look. In place of his usual Hollywood clean shave and fresh skin, the actor opted for a more rugged look with very unique facial hair - sporting long sideburns and a moustache while leaving his chin bare.
On X, formerly known as Twitter , viewers quickly praised Bradley’s new turn. “Bradley Cooper in Righteous Gemstones is the first time I've found him attractive,” one person wrote, with a second sharing: “Tuned in to righteous gemstones expecting to see my favourite worst people alive and instead I got to gaze into Bradley Cooper’s baby blues for an entire episode. No complaints.
” “Not gonna lie, I didn't hate how Bradley Cooper looked on Gemstones last night,” said a third, while another fan gushed: “Bradley Cooper in this gemstones episode is lowkey the hottest he’s ever looked.” Bradley may have been filming for the episode last June, when he was spotted out in New York City sporting the same bald chin and full sideburns while running errands. At the time, however, fans weren’t as taken by his out-of-character appearance .
"We have questions," one penned on X, while another joked he'd had an accident while shaving. A second echoed the idea and shared a photo on their parody account, riffing that the actor had been "shaving [his] beard at 6am.” Alongside focusing on new acting roles, Bradley is also said to be getting even more serious with his girlfriend Gigi Hadid .
The very private couple has been dating since 2023, and rumours suggest that they might soon consider tying the knot. Unfortunately, their new romance seems to have caused tensions with Gigi’s former pal Suki Waterhouse , who dated Bradley for around two years starting in 2023. Speaking about the breakup with British Vogue, Suki recently said: "I really will say that I’m pretty strong at this point, but when something very public happens to you and the story behind it is dark and difficult, and you’re actually not doing well, and you can’t explain yourself to the world , that’s very isolating and disorientating.
" It probably has taken a decade to work myself out and actually be able to have this expansion in my life." Suki has never gone into the finer details about the split. However, she has spoken about the relationships she had during her “sadistic” 20s - the era she was with Bradley.
She described these as "only ever a fetishisation" that left her feeling "punished". Gigi seems to have taken Suki’s recollection as a personal affront, causing a rift in their A-list friendship group . "They’ve fallen out and there’s no indication that things will ever be the same for them.
