Surat: Police have zeroed in on at least four persons suspected to have played a role in the kidnapping of the seven-year-old boy who went missing on Dec 23 from Bhilad in Valsad and was found near Vapi on Dec 25. Police are yet to reveal the identity of the accused, and a search operation has been launched to nab them. "The suspects are missing after the boy was found.

Hence, police suspect that these people must have played some role in the crime. Police are yet to question the boy in detail," said a police officer. In the absence of any call for ransom, it was not clear that the boy was kidnapped.

But from the latest findings and the disappearance of a few people, police believe it to be a case of kidnapping. In the incident, the boy came to stay at his maternal grandparents' home in Bhilad with his mother for his maternal uncle's nikah from Dec 20 to Dec 23. The boy's father, who lives in Vapi, used to come in the morning and return in the evening.

On the night of Dec 23, the boy went missing. He was carrying his maternal grandmother's phone. Police traced the phone's location, which was turned on a couple of times, and using the details, police traced the boy from the bushes near NH-48.

Police investigation so far revealed that the mobile phone was kept on a tree in a way that the boy could be rescued by police or people. The phone was spotted by a ragpicker who turned it on after charging and later went to sell it off to a mobile shop owner. The boy was living with his parents in Saudi Arabia, and the family had returned to India recently.

His father is a civil engineer. Stay updated with the latest news on Times of India . Don't miss daily games like Crossword , Sudoku , Location Guesser and Mini Crossword .
