BOYS BASKETBALL: Pittston Area advances to 5A title game, Dallas to play in 4A third-place game

Trailing by four points going to the fourth quarter and a spot in the title game on the line, Pittston Area outscored Wallenpaupack by 12 points over the final eight minutes to advance to the District 2 Class 5A boys basketball championship game with a 37-33 win at home Friday. Silvio Giardina scored seven of his 10 points in the fourth quarter to spark the Patriots. Aiden Lynn finished the game with nine points and was 5 for 5 from the foul line in the fourth quarter. Lucas Lopresto made 3 of four foul shots in the fourth quarter and scored 10 points on the night.

Nick VanBuskirk led Wallenpaupack with 11 points. Diego Adames scored nine. Abington Heights 63, Crestwood 31: Robby Lucas scored 24 points including 17 in the first half to lead second-seeded Abington Heights to a win over Crestwood.

Abington Heights (13-10) advanced to the District 2 Class 5A championship game for the third straight season. Jordan Shaffer contributed 17 points and Andrew Kettel scored 13 for the Comets, who have won the last two District 2 championships. Ayden Agapito scored 13 points to lead third-seeded Crestwood (14-10).

District 2 Class 4A semifinals Valley View 51, Dallas 26: At Dallas, Beyon McLean scored 16 points, eight of them coming in the second half as Valley View, the No 3 seed, advanced to the championship game with a win over No. 2 Dallas. Valley View (19-5) will play top-seeded Scranton Prep (18-6) on March 1 at 4 p.
