ANTHONY Joshua and Daniel Dubois are all set for an epic rumble in Wembley Stadium tomorrow evening, as the pair clash for Dubois’ IBF heavyweight title. It’s hard to envisage a scenario where both men make it through 12 rounds unscathed. With two huge punchers, someone may hit the deck – and stay there.
Other than a proposed Bakole-Zhang effort later in the year, these are arguably the division’s two biggest bangers. Dubois’ wins over Miller and Hrgovic means he enters on a high. As does Joshua, who is on a run of four consecutive wins, including a brutal two-round demolition of Francis Ngannou, who was, admittedly, a crossover fighter, but AJ ruthlessly put him to the sword and saved boxing’s blushes.
Both men have previous form with the heavyweight number one, Oleksandr Usyk, who twice defeated Joshua and stopped Dubois, who later picked up Usyk’s IBF title. With Joshua installed as the fight favourite due to his vast experience at this level, a price of 3/1 on heavy-handed Dubois is enticing. Once early nerves subside, this could end up in a tense, gun-slinging affair, which is where a 5/1 on Dubois by KO/TKO comes into play.
