The 2025 edition of the IPL is off to a flying start, with batters already smashing boundaries and setting big targets. But it’s not just about big hits and high scores. Bowlers, especially pacers, are still making an impact by breaking partnerships and holding things together in tough moments.

With matches happening across 13 venues, the conditions are also giving fast bowlers plenty to work with be it swing with the new ball or clever changes of pace at the death. Here’s a look at the top five IPL teams with the most exciting and dangerous pace bowling attacks this season. Even with Jasprit Bumrah recovering from injury, MI’s pace options are stacked.

Trent Boult brings experience and new-ball swing, and he’s already showing flashes of his best. Deepak Chahar adds more powerplay options, while Hardik Pandya can chip in with his medium pace and control. Reece Topley gives them a tall left-arm option who can bowl at different stages.

If Bumrah returns mid-season, this attack becomes even scarier. GT sit at the top of the pace charts right now. Kagiso Rabada has been in rhythm from the start, using his speed and accuracy to trouble top batters.

Mohammed Siraj has looked good with the new ball and is picking wickets early. Prasidh Krishna, back after a long gap, is already making a mark. Ishant Sharma brings experience and control, especially when things get tense in close games .

GT also have young quicks like Gerald Coetzee and Kulwant Khejroliya ready to step in when needed. It’s a pace unit with everything—speed, smarts, and depth. SRH have gone with experience this time.

Pat Cummins leads the attack, and even though he was coming back from injury, he’s looked sharp. Mohammed Shami is bowling with confidence after a strong Champions Trophy, and Harshal Patel is doing what he does best—mixing up his pace and confusing batters. Harshal was the top wicket-taker last season with 24 wickets.

Add Jaydev Unadkat and Nitish Kumar Reddy to the mix, and SRH have plenty of options for different match situations. KKR have a mix of youth and experience in their pace unit. Harshit Rana has stepped up as a reliable performer, continuing from his breakthrough last season where he picked 19 wickets.

He’s been solid again this year. Andre Russell remains a big match player —not just with the bat, but with the ball too, especially in the final overs. The overseas duo of Anrich Nortje and Spencer Johnson bring serious pace.

There’s also Umran Malik and Vaibhav Arora, who can be match-winners on their day. KKR’s pace attack may not be the flashiest, but it gets the job done. Delhi’s pace attack hasn’t made a lot of noise, but it’s quietly one of the best this season.

T. Natarajan, known for his deadly yorkers, is delivering again. Mitchell Starc has returned after a short break and is already showing why he’s one of the most feared left-arm quicks in the game.

Mukesh Kumar is carrying his good form from last season, when he was DC’s joint top wicket-taker. With backup from Mohit Sharma and Dushmantha Chameera, Delhi have both variety and depth in their pace line-up. As the tournament progresses, it will be interesting to see which of these pace units can hold their nerve and deliver under pressure.

In a season where every run counts, having the right pace combination could very well be the difference between lifting the trophy or heading home early..
