The audio tech industry, like most other industries, was built with hard work, perseverance, technological innovations...

and business acquisitions. Many top audio companies have purchased smaller firms to boost their own technology, and Bose is no different. Along with home audio, the Massachusetts-based company has its foot in the car audio segments.

Bose announced that it just acquired premium audio company McIntosh to boost its hold on the premium and car audio markets. McIntosh is a premium audio brand that sells pretty much any kind of home audio product under the sun. Its products include amps, pre-amps, receivers, music streamers, turntables, CD players, DACs, speakers, subwoofers, tuners, and many more.

The company also sells sound systems for cars. Established in 1949, McIntosh is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary. Bose just acquired McIntosh We all know Bose as a company on the upper tier of the consumer audio market.

Its products have a high degree of quality, but they’re hardly what we’d call premium. There’s a special place for many of the premium audio devices, and that place is right above $1,000. McIntosh, on the other hand, offers many devices for the well-endowed and well off individuals who want the best of the best.

Well, according to the company’s post, Bose wants to boost its presence in the premium market, and buying McIntosh could help it reach that goal. We don’t know how much money Bose paid for McIntosh, however. In a statement, Bose said that it will “infuse its industry-leading audio research and technology into the high-performance and luxury space”.

So, we may see more Bose products hit the market at much higher price points. Along with building products for the bold and the bougie, Bose will also use this partnership to increase its foothold on the automotive audio market . Bose has been in the automotive audio market for more than 40 years, and it feels that bringing on McIntosh will help build out its tech .

Since this partnership is still in the beginning stages, we don’t know what sort of products these companies will come out with. Hopefully, we’ll see some new and exciting products come soon..
