A town charity is helping pre-school children to learn how to read and make music. Crowland Community Hub, which runs the town’s library service along with the Toggs n Cloggs shop, has undertaken a project to help pre-schools in the town by providing educational resources. Abbey 345 was helped to create a new library reading area, which provided a positive fun and cosy learning environment for children to engage with books.

Colourful beanbags were presented to the Play Pod Den to help provide a space for youngsters to read. While Crowland Community Pre-School asked for resources which would allow children to make and create music outside. They received an outdoor music frame with a variety of instruments.

Enya’s Preschool chose a range of books to generate a resource library for both parents and children. These books are good to help parents educate their children and support learning processes. A presentation evening was held on January 29.

A spokesman for the hub said: “We are delighted that these resources can potentially assist every child in each of these preschool settings giving maximum value to all children. “The community Hub supported Southview Primary School in the Autumn Term in 2024 with resources to assist the learning of children who have speech and language challenges. This has supported teachers with training and provided support resources too.

“In addition to this, the community hub has supported the purchase of three hens that the children now have responsibility for feeding and looking after. The production of eggs from the hens will be used for a new cooking club due to be set up at Southview. “Our next phase of the project will be to look at how we can resource and support childminders in the town too.

And support Southview with their next school project.”.
