Boom! The Ohio State basketball team has added a much-needed addition to its roster via the transfer portal. The Buckeyes have secured a commitment from 7-footer Christoph Tilly. OSU beat out Illinois who was also vying for Tilly's commitment.
Tilly is a native of Germany and comes to Ohio State from Santa Clara after spending three seasons with the Broncos. His junior season was the most productive of his career where he started 31 of 31 games while averaging 12.5 points and nearly five rebounds per game.
He would also be recognized as a second-team All-West Coast Conference performer. Tilly is a four-star prospect and is ranked the No. 7 center in the portal according to 247Sports.
As one might expect from a European player, Tilly is efficient around the rim shooting close to 60 percent from in the paint and over 31 percent from beyond the arc. He can also make opposing teams pay for sending him to the charity stripe with a free throw percentage well over 70 percent for his career.Ohio State has landed a commitment from German 7 footer Christoph Tilly.

With Ohio State losing two centers in Austin Parks and Aaron Bradshaw to the portal, adding a center was a must. Expect Diebler and the Buckeyes to add one, possibly two more players from the portal before it's all said and done. This article originally appeared on Buckeyes Wire: Ohio State basketball gets German 7-foot center from Santa Clara.
