PARMA, Ohio -- Resident John Douglas likes Halloween so much he decided years ago to create his own haunted attraction. The result of his creativity is The Douglas Manor, located at 3418 Lincoln Ave. “Halloween has been my favorite holiday ever since I was a kid,” said Douglas, a Virginia Beach, Va.
native who has lived at his current home for more than two decades. “When I moved into this house, we had a lot of kids in the neighborhood. This was a way to basically give back to them so they can enjoy Halloween without really paying for anything because haunted houses are expensive.
I don’t ever charge anything but I do accept donations for charity.” The Douglas Manor is located at 3418 Lincoln Ave. in Parma.

Oct. 11 and 12, as well as Full Fright Nights (with actors) Oct. 18, 19, 25 and 26.
The attraction will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct.

“Of course, one of my favorite rooms is the body bag strobe-light room. It’s always the last room you go through before you exit the haunt. I’m excited about that.
The pathway is different this year. I try to do something different every year.” One popular Parma Halloween attraction not taking place this year is The Haunted Yard.
The scary affair was spread out among five neighborhood backyards on Rousseau Drive. “The main reason is for some much-needed time off,” said The Haunted Yard creator Erik Andexler, a 2004 Normandy High School graduate. “My brother and I each have 18-month-old daughters born 11 days apart.
“We want to be able to spend the Halloween season with our families with minimal stress. The Haunted Yard has become such a big production that it takes up months of our time. The plan is to come back but we don’t know what the future holds.
