Bengaluru: Former CM Basavaraj Bommai has demanded that the SIT probing the alleged "40% commission" scandal during the BJP regime also investigate "60% commission" charges against the current Congress govt. "In the past two years, there have been allegations of 60% commission against this govt. That should also be included in the SIT investigation ," he said, citing accusations from contractor associations.

Bommai questioned why the Justice Nagamohan Das Commission's report on BJP-era corruption was being acted upon while "false propaganda" during his term remained unproven. "Where is the evidence?" he said. Caste census faces heat ahead of cabinet meet As the state Cabinet prepares to discuss the caste census report on April 17, several communities have raised objections, calling the survey "faulty" and "illegal.

" Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy accused CM Siddaramaiah of staging a "caste census drama" solely to save his position, alleging that the move was intended to divert public attention from issues such as the failure of guarantee schemes, corruption, and rising prices. Karnataka Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha president B Kenchappa Gowda said, "This survey report has no basis. It's outright faulty.

It has been done based on the 2011 census...

no one from our community ever saw enumerators." SM Jamdar, Jagatika Lingayat Mahasabha leader and retired IAS officer, called it unconstitutional. "Only the Govt of India can conduct a census.

Any other authority doing it is illegal," he said, adding that 25–30% of the sample was left out. Basavaprabhu Swami of Murugha Matha said the Lingayat community would wait to see the report's recommendations. The Rs 165 crore report, submitted to the cabinet Friday, spans 50 volumes.
