A youth charity has received a £1,000 donation from Amazon. Bolton Lads & Girls Club (BLGC) was given a cash boost from the Amazon fulfilment centre based on Logistics North. The charity provides opportunities for eight to 21-year-olds, with a focus on supporting the town's 'most vulnerable' children and young people.

The club, which operates across four locations in Bolton, runs sport and creative activities for 4,000 active members. It also provides mental health services, including bereavement support, support for young carers, and Thrive practitioners. To mark the donation, five employees from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Bolton ran two evening sessions at the club for eight to 12-year-olds.

The team organised the Amazon Boxman Challenge, where they used their creativity to create a sculpture from recycled cardboard with the children. Dan Boulger, general manager at Amazon in Bolton, said: "Bolton Lads & Girls Club provides young people with services, opportunities, and a supportive environment to learn, socialise, and thrive. "We are pleased to support the charity with this donation and spend time with the amazing young people that they support.

" Lesley Kay, an employee at Amazon in Bolton, said: "I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the young people at Bolton Lads & Girls Club. "It was lovely seeing the children having fun and developing their problem-solving, creativity, and team-working skills. "Thank you to the team for allowing us to run our Boxman sessions, and I’m glad we could offer a helping hand.

" Julie Feeley from Bolton Lads & Girls Club said: "Thank you to Dan, Lesley, and the Amazon team for coming down and running the Boxman Challenge. "The young people had a great time, and it was nice to watch them get involved and let their imaginations run wild. "We are also appreciative to Amazon in Bolton for acknowledging our community efforts with their donation, which will enable us to continue to offer support to the youth of Bolton.

Amazon has supported more than 700,000 students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good..
