A burglar has been jailed after going on a thieving spree in Bolton.

A burglar has been jailed after going on a thieving spree in Bolton. Alexis Riley, 19, stole bank cards, an SUV and even a pair of Nike sliders from multiple properties over the course of two weeks. Riley, of no fixed address, then used the bank cards to take out cash.

He was sentenced at Bolton Crown Court on Monday, March 24, for offences of theft and fraud. The court heard that on December 17 last year, Riley burgled and attempted to burgle multiple properties. Regarding an attempted burglary in Eldon Street, Tonge Moor, Judge Rachel Galloway said: "The victim discovered the offence after they found damage to the front door lock.



"You did the damage to gain entry and were captured on the CCTV. You could be seen either shining a torch on the lock or attempting to burn it. "The victim was in the address at the time and had to replace the front door lock at a cost of £130.

Riley used one bank card stolen from the address to buy £77.45 worth of goods and another to buy £86.

67 of goods. On the same date, he tried the door of an address in Firwood Grove, Tonge Moor, but did not enter the property . On December 31, Riley stole a car from an address in Long Lane, Breightmet.

Judge Galloway said: "The victim let their dog out of the property and left the door unlocked. You managed to gain entry through the insecure back door. "You took the keys to a Jeep Cherokee.

" The car was stopped by police in Preston and Riley was arrested. Riley pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, two counts of attempted burglary, three counts of fraud and one of theft of a motor vehicle. He had eight previous convictions for 26 offences, including for burglaries and aggravated vehicle taking.

Sentencing, Judge Galloway said: "You are only 19 years of age and I have taken into account your lack of maturity." She added that she would take into account his remorse and his "troubled and difficult background", having spent time in care. Judge Galloway sentenced him to 876 days imprisonment, which is 2.
