Prayagraj: Tension prevailed in Newari and adjoining villages in Kaushambi on Tuesday following the recovery of the body of the son of a village head from a well. The deceased was identified as Ajay Kumar (22) of Newari. Upon being alerted, senior police officials, including ASP (Kaushambi) Rajesh Singh, rushed to the spot and carried out investigations.
Additional police forces were deployed to defuse tension. The ASP told reporters that "Two police teams have been constituted to work out the case." He added that two persons have been picked up for questioning and the body sent for postmortem.
"The postmortem report would reveal the exact cause of death, and cops would be taking measures accordingly." He added that the family members have raised the needle of suspicion on some persons and the police have been probing the case from all angles..
