ALAPPUZHA: The body believed to be that of missing Vijayalakshmi (49) of Kulashekaram in Karunagappally, has been found. The body was found 15 minutes after digging the place cited by the accused Jayachandran. It can be confirmed that the body is that of Vijayalakshmi only after further tests.

The body was found from the field behind Jayachandran's house. The body was in a decomposed state. It is believed to be about two weeks old.

The steps for taking the body out have started. Alappuzha District Police Chief has reached the spot. Alappuzha sub-collector Sameer Krishna and Karunagappally ACP have also reached the spot.

Fingerprint experts are also conducting an examination. A detailed examination will be conducted to determine whether this was a planned murder. Jayachandran of Karur Puthuval, was taken into custody by the Karunagappally police.

Vijayalakshmi had been missing for four days. The police took him into custody after the investigation concluded that the two had spoken on the phone. Vijayalakshmi's phone was found from a KSRTC bus in Ernakulam.

Vijayalakshmi was married to a native of Idukki. However, the two are no longer together. They have two children.

She became close with Jayachandran of Ambalapuzha. There were some financial dealings between the two. Vijayalakshmi had come to the Ambalapuzha temple to offer prayers and then went to his house in Ambalapuzha's Purakkad panchayat.

After receiving a phone call, a verbal dispute broke out between the two. She was later killed and buried in an empty field adjacent to his house. It is suspected that he killed her after hitting her head with pliers.

Abandoning her phone in the KSRTC bus, led the investigation to Jayachandran. The phone found in Ernakulam was handed over to the police by the KSRTC conductor. The phone was switched off.

She had called Jayachandran the most from this phone. The investigation led to Jayachandran by checking the mobile phone tower location and call list..
