Sir Bob Geldof looked unrecognisable as he stepped out Down Under on Monday. The Boomtown Rats singer, 73, is currently in Australia to shoot his scenes in a zombie plane movie being filmed at Gold Coast Airport. Bob will star alongside action star Chuck Norris and 90s rapper Vanilla Ice as he plays the role of a hero who saves passengers on a plane from the zombies.
Bob looked a million miles away from his usual look as he rehearsed his lines on the Gold Coast on Monday morning, donning huge sunglasses and a garish green and orange tracksuit as he got into character. The I Don't Like Mondays hitmaker admitted he was nervous about the project last week, telling reporters at the Brisbane International Film Festival: "I am actually starring in Zombie Plane. Obviously, I’m very f**king nervous because this is a big acting role.
" Bob has previously made cameos in movies like Pink Floyd: The Wall and Spice World. Bob, known as much for his philanthropy as he is music, raised a few eyebrows earlier this year thanks to endorsing a Tory MP ahead of the 2024 General Election . The Live Aid founder backed Andrew Mitchell in an expletive-laden video back in June, describing the former deputy foreign secretary as a "decent person".
The Irish rocker admitted he had "no bloody idea" where the Conservative MP's Sutton Coldfield constituency was as he urged people to vote for his Tory pal. "The party that Andrew Mitchell is a member of is not important to me. What is important is that he's a decent person or else he wouldn't be a friend of mine, I guess," Bob said in the video shared on social media.
He went on to add: "What we so desperately need in our Parliament, whether again in opposition or in Government, is clever, committed, capable people. We have had enough of leery shysters, buffoons and tiresome w*****s. We need people who can actually do things and then get it done.
Mitchell knows how to do stuff and to get it done." While the Tories lost the election, Andrew Mitchell managed to retain his seat and survive the wipe-out many in his party fell victim to. Speaking to the Standard, the MP for Sutton Coldfield admitted Bob's endorsement "undoubtedly contributed" to his surprise victory.
Bob found himself the victim of one of Louis Walsh 's scathing attacks during the music managers time inside the Celebrity Big Brother house earlier this year . The former X Factor judge, known for his candid opinions, didn't shy away from expressing blunt thoughts on various stars during his latest reality TV venture, laying into Ronan Keating and even Simon Cowell . In March, Bob found himself in the line of fire during a chat with housemates about iconic songs.
Coronation Street 's Colson Smith mentioned: "Bob Geldof wrote I don't like Mondays,'" which prompted Louis to incorrectly credit Prince. Marisha Wallace noted: "Prince wrote so many songs," to which Louis agreed: "Yeah, he did." Sensing tension, Zeze Millz probed: "I take it you're not a Bob Geldof fan, Louis? " Without mincing words, Louis snapped back: "Well, I think he's full of s**t, he's from Dublin.
I know little bits. The Boomtown Rats were good." Despite a cautious apology from Marisha in case Sir Bob was watching, Walsh was unrepentant, retorting: "I don't give a f**k.
