Goodliffe made 182 appearances during a five year spell with Sutton before opting to leave at the end of last season. But the centre-back is only interested in picking up three points this weekend to enable Blues to continue their push for the play-offs. “I was at Sutton for five seasons so I know them well and they’re a great club,” said Goodliffe.
“I had some great times there but I’m on the opposite team now. "I’ve got a job to do and we’ve got a job to do so I hope we can go there and pick up the three points against them. “This will be my first time going back and even playing against them.
“It will be a nice feeling but it will be even better if we get three points.” The Shrimpers will head to the VBS Community Stadium looking to build on Saturday’s 1-0 win against Oldham Athletic. And Goodliffe was delighted to play his part in the hard-fought victory he believes was vital in the pursuit of a place in the top seven.
“It gives us a proper fighting chance of trying to reach our goal of the play-offs,” said Goodliffe. “It was a good game for us. "The fans, the crowd and the atmosphere helped push us along and it was the best I’ve heard it since coming in on loan.
“We gave ourselves a chance with the early goal and it helped us to have something to keep pushing for.” Keenan Appiah-Forson’s early header ultimately secured victory for the Shrimpers but only thanks to a strong defensive display which saw Kevin Maher’s side keep their first clean sheet since January. “It’s been a while and a long time coming,” admitted Goodliffe.
“I think in some games we’ve been good defensively but I’ll be honest in some games I’ve not been the best I know I can be. “I’ll give my all in every game and I know everyone does too. "We’ve got to put the errors we’ve made and I’ve made behind us and move forward because it’s a crucial end to the season now.
