Niagara County • : Police are investigating a complaint on Kayner Road in Royalton. The property owner told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy that he found blood spots in a field on his property and drag marks in the snow on Saturday afternoon. The owner said it looked like the work of a hunter, and he contacted hunters he’d given permission to hunt his land, all of whom denied being there.

A report was made to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. • : Police responded to a vehicle fire on Ernest Road in the Town of Lockport at 9:51 a.m.



Sunday. The owner told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy that the parked car made a humming noise and the cabin filled with smoke. The vehicle had 700 miles on it, said the owner, who said he believed its value to be $58,000.

• : Police responded to a kitchen fire at a home on the 2900 block of Quaker Road in Hartland about 11 a.m. Sunday.

The owner told a Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy that his propane countertop stove wouldn’t work and when he tried to unplug it, it ignited. The owner put out the fire with an extinguisher. He said the stove cost $500, the cabinet cost $2,000 and the drywall cost $2,500.

Volunteer firefighters said they believed it was caused by mice chewing on the wire. • : A man was arrested after a shoplifting incident on South Transit Road at 4 p.m.

Sunday. The man, whose age and address were not disclosed, is charged with petit larceny. He is accused of stealing $69.

15 worth of merchandise. • : Police responded to a report of a disturbance on South Transit Road at 9:22 a.m.

Saturday. The owner of a dog said an unleashed dog attacked his dog, causing injury. The accused dog slipped out of his leash, said his owner, but was not aggressive.

A Niagara County Sheriff’s deputy told both parties that any restitution for the injured dog was a civil matter. City of Lockport • : A Niagara Falls man was arrested at the Niagara County Courthouse at 11:20 a.m.

Friday. The 54-year-old man was charged with obstructing justice, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment and assault. He is accused of tackling and causing injury to the victim of the court case he was present for as well as injuring a court officer.
