BLACKVILLE-HILDA (3-1) at DENMARK-OLAR (1-3) Last time they played Blackville-Hilda defeated Denmark-Olar 34-13 on Sept. 15, 2023. Keys to the game Former region rivals butt heads in a familiar spot on the calendar as Blackville-Hilda visits Denmark-Olar in the Fighting Hawks' final pre-region tune-up.

They're flying high after playing their first four games against Class AA opponents Barnwell, Edisto and Ninety Six and Class AAA Silver Bluff with a record of 3-1. Blackville-Hilda's defense made stop after stop in Thursday's 20-14 win over Silver Bluff, and the Hawks rushed for three touchdowns despite dealing with injuries and illness on the offensive line against a fast, physical Silver Bluff defense. Needless to say, plenty of bumps and bruises have accumulated over the last couple of weeks, but the Hawks are still fighting through it and have found contributors from outside of the starting lineup.

Denmark-Olar is off to a tough start to the season, with its most recent result a 32-6 loss to Hunter-Kinard-Tyler. The Vikings have been working toward establishing the run offensively, so that will be a focal point of the Blackville-Hilda defense for yet another week. The Hawks will want to control the line of scrimmage to force the Vikings into uncomfortable long-yardage situations on offense, which will make them to put the ball in the air.

Blackville-Hilda had success running the ball against Silver Bluff, averaging 8 yards per carry, and the Hawks will look to continue to do that behind Samari Williams, Jaquel Holman, Namair Anderson and a returning Jamarien Kirkland. A bye week follows, which will be a well-earned reward should the Hawks enter it at 4-1..
