Black Mirror star Paul Giamatti has revealed his concerns about a popular video-sharing platform.

Black Mirror's Paul Giamatti has shared his thoughts on social media, explaining why fans won't be seeing him on TikTok in the near future. The 57-year-old actor gained critical acclaim in 2023 for his role in The Holdovers, which earned him a Best Lead Actor nomination at the Academy Awards. Now, Giamatti is set to appear in the seventh season of Netflix's dystopian series Black Mirror, premiering on April 10.

In anticipation of the new season, the American star expressed his reluctance to join the popular video-sharing platform, describing it as 'terrifying.' In an interview with Radio Times magazine, he admitted to having a covert Instagram account under a pseudonym. "I am on Instagram, although only my friends know it's me," Giamatti disclosed.



However, he made it clear that he has no desire to 'engage' with TikTok, which boasts over a billion users worldwide. He elaborated: "My girlfriend is heavily into TikTok but I don't want to engage in that. That endless scroll and loop is terrifying.

"The second that you're confronted with algorithms and nudges, you feel coerced. It's strange and troubling." Giamatti's partner, actress Clara Wong, has a following of 5.

7K on Instagram and regularly shares photos of the Hollywood star. However, she doesn't seem to have a public TikTok account, reports Surrey Live . The Oscar-nominated actor will appear in the fifth episode of the upcoming Black Mirror series.

The episode, named 'Eulogy', centres on "an isolated man who is introduced to a ground-breaking system that allows its users to literally step inside old photographs - stirring powerful emotions in the process." In a candid discussion with Radio Times, the actor delved into the episode's poignant themes, revealing his personal stance on nostalgia. He shared: "I'm not a big nostalgia guy and I don't have a ton of photos.

I regret that now. I wish I had kept a lot of things – photographs, but also letters, school papers, tests, reports. I never kept anything.

I was always just thinking: 'What's next?'" Additionally, the episode will showcase Patsy Ferran, known for her role in Miss Austen, as she takes on the character of 'The Guide.'
