BJP leader, son threatened for joining party

Times News Network Ludhiana: Hathur police booked two persons for allegedly threatening a BJP leader and his son for joining the party and asked him to quit. The accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh and Harwinder Singh of Rasulpur (Mallah) village. Complainant Gursimran Singh of Rasulpur (Mallah) said that he was sarpanch of the village from 2018 to 2024 and did not have enmity with anyone.

He added that he joined BJP on May 20, 2024 and was now vice-president of the party’s district team. He said that Gurpreet Singh, a resident of his village, who was now living in Australia, called him on WhatsApp on June 7 and asked him why he joined the BJP. Gursimran Singh said that the caller told him to leave the party and added that if he did not, they would make him quit.



He added that on Oct 15, Gurpreet called him again and his son answered the phone. Gurpreet allegedly threatened his son, Shivrampreet Singh and told him to give the phone to the complainant. After some time, he got a WhatsApp call from Gurpreet again.

The accused threatened him if he did not leave the party. He allegedly said that he would also kill his son. A case has been filed.
