Jaipur: The state unit of BJP Friday launched a 15-day statewide campaign titled ‘Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan' to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. The event also came with the party launching a blistering attack on Congress for its "decades of Dalit neglect and Muslim appeasement". The campaign will end on April 26 and include events focused on Ambedkar's contributions to the Constitution of India and his efforts for social justice and equality.

Four SC-reserved Lok Sabha constituencies and 34 SC-reserved Assembly constituencies in Rajasthan will be in focus of this campaign. BJP will host around 250 intellectual forums and awareness events in municipalities, councils, corporations, panchayats and district headquarters in Rajasthan from April 15 to April 25 to discuss Ambedkar's legacy and the party's work in advancing his ideals. BJP state president Madan Rathore inaugurated the campaign at a state-level workshop in Jaipur and accused Congress of politicising Ambedkar's legacy while failing to honour him during his lifetime.

"Congress has used Dr Ambedkar's name only as a political tool to attract Dalit votes while their actions always ignored his contributions," Rathore said. "If the Nehru-Gandhi family truly respected Babasaheb, they would not have delayed awarding him the Bharat Ratna. It was a BJP-supported govt that gave Ambedkar that honour and recognised his vision through the development of Panchteerth," he added.

Rathore accused Congress of minority appeasement and said, "While ignoring Dalit leaders like Ambedkar, Congress has consistently appeased one community to serve its vote bank politics. BJP believes in justice and development for all." Speaking in the workshop, Deputy CM Premchand Bairwa said Ambedkar's vision aligns with BJP's philosophy.

"Ambedkar spoke of unity and equality, just as BJP follows the path of nationalism and social justice. His belief that ‘We are Indians first and last' is echoed by PM Modi's slogan ‘Nation First'," he said. BJP Yuva Morcha national vice president and keynote speaker at the workshop, Abhinav Prakash, piled more criticism on Congress by highlighting instances where Ambedkar was allegedly insulted or sidelined by the party.

"From the burning of his printing press in 1946 to preventing his election to the Constituent Assembly, incidents show that Congress has only used Ambedkar's name but never stood by his ideals," Prakash said. "Even in his interim govt, Nehru included five Muslim ministers but ignored Ambedkar. That is the truth behind their commitment to social justice," he added.
