He alleged that "political patronage", particularly from the Aam Aadmi Party , has enabled this influx. Referring to the 114-page JNU report titled 'Illegal Migrants to Delhi: Analysing Socio-Economic and Political Consequences', Patra, during a press conference, stated, “The report highlights a notable increase in the Muslim population due to illegal migration from Bangladesh and Myanmar.

It mentions a demographic shift in the city and discusses its socio-political impact." "According to the report, political patronage plays a key role in facilitating a steady influx of undocumented Rohingyas and Bangladeshis. AAP has a crucial role in this,” BJP MP added.

He further alleged that political parties are assisting illegal migrants in securing fake voter registrations, posing a threat to democracy and the electoral process. Patra’s remarks come on the final day of campaigning, with Delhi set to vote on February 5 and counting scheduled for February 8..
