an update on X [9 September] that told fans to prepare for an “interesting” week ahead with further short-term debt funding expected at Goodison Park. Pointing out that this won’t change much in terms of the club’s ownership and takeover talks, The Esk did state that these arrangements will help the Blues to meet immediate requirements in terms of cashflow. The Esk wrote: “An ‘interesting week ahead of Evertonians off the field, as more bizarre short term extended debt funding arrangements are expected to be announced.

“Nothing that solves the ownership issue, but just meets immediate cashflow requirements.” over the course of recent years [ , 13 July] has seen several would-be suitors turn their noses up at the prospect of buying the beleaguered club. Now strapped for cash and having to publicly announce the ways in which they’ve arranged to stave off further debts issues, it’s clearer than ever that vast change is needed at Goodison Park, and fast.
