m. , Hudson Jazz Festival Community Day celebrates community and the upcoming 2024 Hudson Jazz Festival, which is on October 4th through 6th. Bring your friends, neighbors, kids, and lovers and kick back at a block party on City Hall Place with a free BBQ cookout by Chef Cleveland Samuels and music by Kuumba Dance & Drum, wander through the opening of a new exhibition in Hudson Hall’s first floor galleries, and join a free, all-ages jam session with the Make Jazz Trill Again (MJTA) Trill Mega Jam, a high-energy, improvisation-centered jam session with an all-star house band led by Melanie Charles.

m. Festival Latino of the Berkshires celebrates community and culture in downtown Great Barrington. This year promises an unforgettable celebration of Latino culture, music, dance, and cuisine, a day filled with rhythm and excitement highlighting our nation’s Hispanic Heritage Month.
There will be an array of activities, including live performances from renowned Latinx artists and folkloric dance troupes. In addition, the festival will have a diverse lineup of food vendors offering authentic Latin American cuisine, a marketplace featuring local artisans and craftspeople, and activities for children. This event aims to showcase the rich tapestry of Hispanic/Latino/Latinx culture while fostering community spirit and inclusivity.

m. to 3:30 p.m.
, Seeing Rainbows is partnering with Berkshire Pulse to offer a monthly trans dance class to members of the community. This movement class for trans, nonbinary, all gender-nonconforming folx takes a gentle somatic approach to breath, movement, and self-expression. The class will incorporate improvisation and basic dance technique to explore an all-levels approach to moving and grooving.
Beginning with a guided improvisational warm-up, the class will build energy and heat through passes across the floor and opportunities to workshop movement in the center. Each class will end with a short phrase exploration or dance-making prompt. Alternatives will be provided to accommodate all levels of movers.
Participants are encouraged to wear pants and long sleeves for ease of movement, and class will be taught in socks or barefoot. The classes are on Sundays, September 29th, October 27th, November 24th, and December 15th from 2:30 p.m.
to 3:30 p.m. at Berkshire Pulse at 420 Park Street in Housatonic.
